The Japanese Apple-watcher blogsite Macotakara’s danbo says that according to “a Chinese reliable source,” Apple’s forthcoming iPad mini will be produced by Foxconn’s new facility in Brazil, although pre-production testing to collect data for new cutting machines is already underway in China.
The Chinese insider sources are cited saying that production of Apple’s smaller tablet will be started in September in time for volume shipment during the holiday season, and is likely to be 3G compatible.
In terms of form factor, based on a prototype seen by the mole, the new tablet is about same height as Google’s Nexus 7 and slightly wider, but thinner than the current thinnest tablet – Amazon’s Kindle Fire, and similar to the 4th generation iPod touch.
