Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of AppleCare extended warranty coverage, have never purchased it, and in 20 years of Mac use have never been given cause to regret saving my money to apply to my next system upgrade. However, with the increasing unrepairability and unservicability of Apple hardware, for example the nre MacBook Pro with Retina display, AppleCare makes more value sense than it has in the past.
