Stuff has posted a concise comparo review of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet PC versus Apple’s 11.6-inch MacBook Air, noting that both machines offer a full desktop OS and a current-generation Intel Core chip in a handbag-friendly form factor, both weigh around a kilo, both come in 64GB and 128GB flavours.
In of the criteria examined, the MacBook Air dusts the Surface Pro in build quality, keyboard and general feel, processor speed, and battery runtime, while the Surface Pro got top ranking for its display resolution and connectivity.
On the balance the Stuff reviewers recommend the Air as the better value, but note that right now is not the ideal time time to buy any Intel machine, what with Intel’s new, dramatically less power-hungry Haswell architecture soon to appear. Better to hold off for a few months if you can.
