New iPhone Cases Made From Premium Guitar Tonewoods: Maple, Mahogany and Rosewood

Tonewood Products has introduced iPhone Cases Made From Premium Guitar Tonewoods: Maple, Mahogany and Rosewood. These beautiful cases Protect iPhones while providing the look and feel of a high-end acoustic guitar.

Tonewood’s founder, David, says he was standing in front of the iPhone cases at the Apple store, and was underwhelmed. “Why would I pay a premium for such a beautifully designed phone only to cover it up with a cheap plastic or rubber case?” he asks. “It made no sense.”

Back home in his Los Angeles apartment,as David considered his options, his eyes settled on the most beautiful possession he owned, his Taylor 714CE acoustic guitar. “That’s when it hit me,” he says, “Why not make iPhone cases out of the same woods used in creating acoustic guitars? These hardwoods or ‘tonewoods’ (as they are called by musicians and luthiers) have the two things a great iPhone case needs: durable strength and a truly classy look. I knew then that, even if it was just for my phone, I had to make them. Tonewood Cases was born.”

It took David well over a year of searching to find a factory with the tools and skills necessary to deliver the high quality woods, precise fit, and attention to detail that he wanted, and he’s finally ready to announce that tonewood cases are now a reality, and they have turned out even better than he could have expected.

Tonewood LLC says it has produced the strongest possible case while not compromising aesthetic design or interfering with the natural beauty of the wood. The top and bottom of each case is reinforced with imbedded metal strips. Inside, the back is cushioned with felt padding, and the sides with a rubberized lining.

Tonewood adds the disclaimer that if it’s dropped it will definitely help to protect your phone, however it may sacrifice itself in the process. Wood is an inherently fragile and breakable material. The case will protect your phone from scrapes and scratches, but is not necessarily able to withstand direct impact of being dropped onto a hard surface. If you are someone who tends to drop their phone a lot, this is probably not the best case for you.
