Acer has announced the first Chromebook to market powered by a 4th Generation (Haswell) Intel Core i3 processor. The Acer C720 Chromebook is now available in two new Intel Core i models that are claimed to achieve battery life of up to 8.5 hours.
Acer is the leading Chromebook vendor with a 46.7 percent market share in this category.

The Acer C720 Chromebook will be available in two models with a 4th Generation Intel Core i3-40005U processor (1.7GHz, 3MB L3 cache). The Acer C720-3404 will have 4GB of memory and will be priced at $379.99, while the Acer C720-3871 will have 2GB of memory and will be priced at $349.99. They will be available this month at retailers in North America.
Like other Acer C720 models, the new C720-3404 and C720-3871 will have fast 32GB Solid State Drive(3) that boots up in less than 7 seconds and resumes nearly instantly from sleep mode.
Selling for less than an iPad mini or Microsoft Surface 2, and $hundreds less than an 11.6-inch MacBook Air . The new Chrome OS models have an 11.6-inch “ComfyView” HD display with a 1366×768 resolution, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, including ability to connect by video chats with the integrated HD webcam and microphone. The Acer C720 also connects to a range of peripherals and external displays via HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.
