No Sapphire Screen, But Perhaps A 128 GB Storage Option For iPhone 6?

MacRumors’ Kelly Hodgkins cites KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, widely considered to be the most reliable
the most accurate Apple product roadmap analyst in the world, saying In a research note released Thursday that bot 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6s will be announced at Apple’s press event next Tuesday. However Mr. Kuo predicts that Apple will stagger the actual product launch, with the 4.7-inch model arriving in mid-September and the 5.5-inch model to follow five to 10 weeks later.

Moreover. Mr. Kuo projects supply of both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models to be initially constrained by production volume limitations relative to anticipated demand, with labor shortages at subcontractor Foxconn bottlenecking production of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, while the 5.5-inch “phablet” version faces additional hurdles of production issues.

Mr. Kuo also says Apple will boost the iPhone’s internal storage to an optionally available 128 GB for both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models, although it’s unclear whether Apple will add the 128 GB as a fourth storage option (as they did with the iPad 4 and 5), or drop the l16 GB model making 32 GB the entry level (I think the latter unlikely).

Though he had previously forecast that select premium iPhone 6 units would ship with a sapphire glass option, Mr. Kuo has revised that prediction, saying Apple is abandoning the Sapphire strategy (at least for now) due to drop test failures. He also claims the iPhone will have a programmable, side-mounted power button and an internal barometer sensor for navigation and health-related purposes.
