Apple Releases OS X NTP Security Update For Yosemite, Mavericks, and Moutain Lion

Apple has released the OS X NTP Security Update patch for OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5, OS X Mavericks v10.9.5, OS X Yosemite v10.10.1. Neither OS X 10.7 Lion nor the older, but more popular 10.6 Snow Leopard are is not addressed by this update.

The patch, which is recommended for all users, addresses a vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code due to several issues existed in ntpd that would let such an attacker trigger buffer overflows — issues that have been addressed through improved error checking.
