Textkraft 3.1 Update Responds To Version 3.0 User Critique

German developer Infovole used to call their flagship app for iOS, Textkraft, a “text processor” — an accurate description soince it has more power features than your typical text editor, but still remains quick and nimble, avoiding the ponderousness and complexity of a mainstream “Office” style word processing applications.

Textkraft received a major overhaul last fall to version 3, which, while incorporating some solid improvements, was not a smash hit with users who missed some tool bar features of the previous versions that had been banished to pulldown menus.

Infovole blogger Marcel says:

Last October we released the major Textkraft update to version 3. To make the app future-proof, many parts of the software were rewritten from scratch and also some conceptional changes took place. Elementary updates like these never work out totally smooth, that’s why we instantly evaluated your comments, criticism and suggestions and implemented them into the app. Today, we’d like to present the result of it by releasing Textkraft in version 3.1.

The update provides many features you may have been missing in the last version and contains hundreds of fixes and improvements, which make the new user interface even more productive and accessible.

Here is a list of the most important changes:

• Tap the toolbar to enlarge! — A new toolbar for fast writers: Access to all important writing functions without opening popups first.

• Additional color themes: Besides the bright iOS 8 user interface, a Night Mode and a Sepia theme are now available. Textkraft Sepia Theme Both themes are less dazzling and allow a longer and less exhausting writing process.

• More font sizes: The iPad version of Textkraft offers more font sizes again, which can easily be adjusted with a pinch gesture.

• Revised dictionary: It’s now possible to select new words without closing the dictionary. We also fixed problems of the translation function and improved many other details.

• Textkraft Text Statistics – Retrieve detailed text information: Count words, sentences, paragraphs and pages and get many more statistics as file size or average chapter/sentence length. The determination of the “Flesch Reading Ease” readability index marks another highlight. The index informs about the comprehensibility of your text.

• The Textkraft start page, on which we communicate news, tips and warnings and offer access to our support pages and social networks, can now be closed.

• Extended “éüç”-function: Besides the automatic correction of diacritic signs and “Umlauts” for the current word, characters with diacritic signs for all activated languages are now also available as keys.

• Improved support of external keyboards: Dictionary, text information and other features can now stay open while writing, as it was possible with Textkraft 2.

• Problems with “alleged changed” cloud documents have been fixed. There are now more options available to react on syncing problems.

• Textkraft Cursor Navigation — Improved cursor navigation: More choices to navigate easily and fast through texts. Jump to the line above or below, move the cursor step-by-step with just a keypress or quickly jump to the beginning or end of the text.

• Automatic saving when writing is paused, which provides you with more security and eliminates the need of closing and opening the keyboard to save the text.

• Improved support of iCloud Drive.

• Textkraft mit französischer Benutzeroberfläch — The Textkraft series now offers a French user interface.

• The bracket function (…) now contains the correct Guillemets for Switzerland, if the iPad keyboard language is set to German (Switzerland).

• The direct import and export of documents via iTunes on your Mac or PC has been simplified: All documents and folders are now on the root level and are stored separately from the internal Textkraft databases.

• We fixed problems, concerning hidden files after updating from Textkraft 2.x. All “old” files are now displayed correctly within the local storage “iTunes file sharing”.

• Textkraft now supports more file extensions when importing text from other apps.

• Among many other improvements, problems concerning open and save dialogs have been fixed.
