Should You Upgrade To OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion This Late In The Game?

If you haven’t upgraded to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion by now, there’s probably a case to be made for just holding out with whatever earlier version you’re using until we see what Apple brings forth with OS X 10.9 – possibly to be called “Lynx,” which is a name Apple bothered to copyright some time ago, and which would be yopur editor’s personal preference among the names that have been speculatively floated.

On the other hand, we can’t be sure that Apple will support direct upgrades from OS 10.6 Snow Leopard to 10.9 like they did with Mountain Lion 10.8, although I’m guessing they probably will, given that some 28 percent of the Mac installed base is still running 10.6.

Anyway, if you’re interested in moving up to 10.8 at his late date, perhaps for compatiblity with some software application that specifies it as the minimum system required, Macworld UK’s Mark Hattersley has posted a helpful discussion and tutorial on making this upgrade.
