Phone2Action Unveils New Voter Turnout Technology to Help Organizations Engage Stakeholders in Election

Phone2Action, a leading digital advocacy platform, today launched its Tech to Vote Civic Action Center digital advocacy and communications platform on National Voter Registration Day September 27. The new product helps companies, associations and non-profits engage their employees, members and stakeholders in the upcoming election. Using both web and mobile technologies, the Civic Action Center helps citizens check their voter registration status, register to vote, vote early, view polling locations and find candidate information.

“Phone2Action is built on the premise of if you remove the barriers to engaging in the civic process, people will take action,” said Jeb Ory, CEO of Phone2Action. “This is why we have created numerous tools to facilitate issue advocacy and as of today, to increase voter turnout. We have seen first hand the massive impact organizations can have on increasing civic engagement when they provide employees and stakeholders with easy and intuitive ways to participate in the political process.”

The Civic Action Center is 100 percent mobile-responsive, can be embedded within an existing site and can be shared by an organizations employees, members and advocates via Facebook, Twitter and email.

Elements of the Civic Action Center include:

• Voter Registration. Employees and advocates can confirm if they are registered to vote by entering basic information and if not, are guided in the registration process

• Absentee Voting. Citizens can get information on early voting and absentee ballot options and apply for absentee ballots

• Polling Location Information. Citizens are provided with a full-width map and pre-filled directions from their home to the nearest polling location

• Candidate Information. The Civic Action Center provides a view of what a voters ballot may look like specific to candidates and links them to more information on each person running for office

• Voting Season Reminders. Citizens can sign up for email and text message reminders regarding important election dates and voting deadlines

Among the first organizations to adopt the Civic Action Center are the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the nations largest tech trade association. The CTA will launch “Tech for Innovation” Voter Toolkit today at CTA’s Innovation House on National Voter Registration Day.

“Compound the widespread lack of voter enthusiasm for the presidential election, with the fact that about 93 million eligible voters sat out the 2012 election, it is vital that groups and businesses do their part to increase voter turnout,” said Gary Shapiro, President and CEO at CTA. “By using Phone2Action’s cutting-edge mobile technology, we plan to educate and mobilize our 2,200 member companies and thousands of grassroots advocates to make sure the tech vote is well represented this year.”

The Civic Action Center provides organizations using it with detailed metrics, including: Total Civic Center Visits, Total Advocates Engaged, Total Messages Opt-ins, Total Email Opt-ins and a chart comparing each individual action.

“Every election brings to the surface issues critical to our membership,” says Erik Rosedahl, Vice President for Issue Advocacy and Political Action at NAM. “One of the best ways of advancing of manufacturing issues is by ensuring NAM member and employee participation this election. If our 12 million manufacturing voters don’t vote, we limit our ability to influence policy in Washington. We are thrilled to already have thousands engaging through the Phone2Action platform. This new Civic Action Center tool on our Friends of Manufacturing website is a great way for us to help us Get out the Vote and engage our members and their employees like never before in the political process.”
