DEVONthink 2.9.9 Imports Notes From Apple Notes

DEVONtechnologies LLC has updated all editions of DEVONthink, its intelligent information and document manager for Mac. The new version imports notes and attachments from Apple Notes, makes importing UNIX mailboxes easier, and improves fullscreen text editing. Version 2.9.9 shows encrypted PDFs on macOS Sierra again and fixes additional PDF bugs related to Apple’s latest Mac operating system. All updates are free and recommended for all users.

DEVONthink 2.9.9 adds an option for importing notes and attachments from Apple Notes. It honors the folder structure that the user has created in the Mac’s default note-taking app. Using editable HTML it preserves formatting and stores the notes in a future-proof format.

The rewritten fullscreen text editing is more responsive and supports substitutions, e.g., smart quotes or smart links. Other usability enhancements include easier to reach Back and Forward contextual menu commands. Flagged and unread icons in See Also and Classify drawers identify important items. Finally, a new hidden preference disables automatically showing and hiding the Activity panel.

Users who archive their email will like that DEVONthink Pro Office 2.9.9 makes it easier to import UNIX email mailboxes without activating the default email client. In addition, the new version better supports the Maildir organization scheme. Message lists retrieved from Apple Mail are loaded, filtered, and sorted much faster. All editions of DEVONthink more reliably recognize the encoding of email messages dragged from Apple Mail.

DEVONthink 2.9.9 comes with an improved synchronization too. It brings better support for moved or multiple Dropbox folders, handles concurrent synchronizations smarter, and makes the synchronization with multiple sync locations synchronizing the same sync stores more reliable and efficient.

On the macOS Sierra bugfixing side, DEVONthink is again able to display encrypted PDFs on macOS Sierra. PDF note annotations are visible once more, and the border of text annotations can be removed. The updates also fix issues related to scanning as well as further minor glitches. They are free for existings users, and highly recommended.
