Apple adds AMD Radeon Pro 5600M graphics option to 16″ MacBook Pro, education discounts available

Apple is now offering a couple of AMD Radeon Pro 5600M graphics card options to the 16″ MacBook Pro, reportedly increasing graphics processing up to 75% over the base 5500M cards. Apple is charging an extra $800 for this upgrade when paired with the 2.6GHz/6-Core model and an extra $700 when paired with the 2.3GHz/8-Core MacBook Pro.

Apple Education customers (students, teachers, and staff at any educational institution with a .edu email address) realize significant savings with these new upgrades. EDU customers can choose the 5600M upgrade with the 2.6GHz/6-Core model for an extra $720 ($80 off), while the 5600M upgrade is $630 when paired with the 2.3GHz/8-Core model ($70 savings).
