FADE TO BLACK-- Apple redesigned their keyboard style from the ground up when they released the MacBook models in May 2006. They were unique and very distinct from any previous designs made (though the black Mac notebook is nothing new, much in the style of the ever popular PowerBook "Pismo" from the year 2000). 'DOUBLE MINT'-ING-- Sony bats another home run in Wrigley field--and we're not talking about the home of the Chicago Cubs--by repeating their "Sony style" (the company's slogan) of duplicating Apple's notebook designs into their own. [PHOTO: ©2007, J. Leo]

**UPDATE: 7/11- 4:00p PDT... News flash! Going through our daily rounds of the Mac news/rumor/blog sites, we found our story plugged over at MacUser.com where Dan Moren points out that apparently, Sony has used this keyboard design in the past. Also, a link provided by a reader who left a comment on their page points to a 2005 report from Engadget.com that indicates Apple has taken a page out of Sony's book in the past! Which explains the mutual sharing and why Sony and Apple aren't battling with each other on this front? (Send those e-mails!)
