Apple introduces next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Apple today introduced their next-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro with a retina display, as well as updated existing 13″ and 15″ models.

The 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display, as it’s called, features a brilliant 2,880 by 1,880 pixel display and is redesigned to look more like the MacBook Air, at only 0.71″ thick. The new model features a 2.3 gigahertz quad-core i7 Intel Ivy Bridge processor, up to 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and a 1GB GeForge GT 650M graphics card. It features a pair of USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt, HDMI, and a SD card slot. The optical drive is gone, as well as the ethernet port. Battery life is said to be 7 hours.

The 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display ships today at configurations starting at $2199 at The Apple Store.

Existing 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pros are updated with Ivy Bridge processors ranging up to 2.9GHz, as well as minor upgrades to RAM, hard drives, and graphics. All new models ship today at the The Apple Store.
