TSMC Secures Apple A10 Chip Orders – Report

Apple’s New A9/A9X systems-on-chip were just officially unveiled last week in the 6s series iPhones and iPad Pro, but speculation is also ramping up about the next generation A10 SoCs.

Digitimes’ Jessie Shen cites a recent report in the Chinese-language Commercial Times saying Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is slated to be Apple’s exclusive A10 processor supplier with volume production to commence in March 2016, destined to power the iPhone 7 series projected for launch during the third and fourth quarters of 2016

Additionally, Ms. Shen says the report notes that TSMC with its 16nm process has also obtained half of Apple’s total A9 chip orders, although TSMC does not comment on speculation about customers and orders.
