U.S. Smartphone Survey: Gentlemen Prefer Androids; Women Tempted By Apple; iPhone Most Desired Overall

Clean Master announced this week at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain, findings of a new mobile device survey conducted by TNS as a national poll of 1,000 U.S. adults, which revealed some interesting gender dissonances in smartphone preference, with Apple’s iPhone top dog overall by a substantial margin, although regional and generational preferences were remarkably uniform. The research discovered that the top five mobile device brands Americans rank as their favorite include Apple (39%), followed by Samsung (29%), LG (10%), HTC (4%), and Nokia (3%). The #1 choice of brand varied when it came to demographics such as gender, geographic location, and age:

The mobile device brands that garnered the least favor by America include BlackBerry (2%), Microsoft (1%), and Sony Ericsson (less than 1%).

In addition to determining the nation’s most popular mobile device brands, the smartphone performance boosting app maker Clean Master polled U.S. electronic users about the frequency of which they first experience any issues with their personal technology. Of the 59% of Americans who own a smartphone, 1 in 10 said they experience performance problems like their system running slowly or crashing within the first three months of owning their new device. 2 in 10 indicated it takes between 6-12 months for problems to appear while 10% said it would take two years to experience any. Interestingly, when it comes to gender, women (13%) are more likely than men (9%) to experience problems with their new phone in the first year of having it.

“No matter what brand of mobile device you prefer, our research shows that it’s only a matter of time before your new smartphone is in need of some performance maintenance. That’s where our free Clean Master app can help — we do the heavy lifting so consumers don’t have to worry about it. It’s an easy, fast, and powerful tool to tune up your smartphone regularly so you can get the best experience with your device possible,” says Adam Morley, Product Manager at KS Mobile.
