New iPhone 6 Models to Have Staggered Release Dates To Minimize Competition? – Rumor

Digitimes’ Cage Chao and Steve Shen report that according to unnamed sources in Apple’s upstream iPhone supply chain, the new 5.5-inch iPhone will be released several months later than the new 4.7-inch model in order to avoid competition between the two models, and not because of poor yield rates for 5.5-inch panels as has been suggested.

Chao and Shen say the word is that Apple wants to avoid a repeat of its mistake of launching the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c simultaneously last year, and that yield rates have not been an issue for the large-size iPhone.
