10.5-inch iPad Pro For Early 2017 Launch Say Taiwan Supply Chain Sources – Digitimes

Digitimes Siu Han and Adam Hwang say that according to unnamed Taiwan-based supply chain sources Apple will be adding a 10.5-inch iPad Pro model in addition to its existing 7.9-inch iPad mini, 9.7-inch iPad and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, will launch 10.5-inch iPad in 2017, with production rampng up in December.

Han and Hwang note that larger tablets are popular in the enterprise and education sectors, with a 10.5-inch iPad filling the size and price gaps between updates to the existing 9.7-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Their sources tell them that the 10.5-inch iPad will be powered by the A10X system-on-chip used in the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and that Apple will also be launching a lower-priced variant of the 9.7-inch iPad to meet the marketplace challenge from Android and Windows powered competition.
