Fanning the Winds of Macworld 2007's Rumor Mills
Apple to Commission New Vessel in MacBook Pro Fleet?

Talk about rumor mills. Let's get this voyage back on track and move it forward. (Where did the pirates come in in the first place? This is the mighty Apple MacBook Pro fleet! We should be comparing it to starships like those of Star Trek).

Then again, let's quickly go back to that thought, and only add some fuel to the speculation. On the other hand, what if it--this virtual touch-screen patent--brings in not an entirely new product, but a new innovation incorporated into an existing one? No, not another iPod, but in an iMac or the rumored debut of brand new Apple Studio Displays?

Such as the ability to control your computer onscreen, much like some fast food restaurants' cash registers do. A touch screen interface, but on your iMac's built-in screen, or your new Studio Display connected to your Mac Pro, Mac mini, or Mac notebook?

Like we said, all of these things could possibly be in the works, all waiting to unveiled by Steve Jobs at Macworld next week. And the discussion of the "iPhone" could be yet another tool in Apple's belt, a ruse intended to send people astray? So much attention has been focused on that rumor that everyone can't stop talking about it. A touch screen interface could be used on such a device, but brings back the question.

What if this touch screen is not for the next-gen iPod, but for an "iPhone." Or, what if this new phone doesn't even exist (did anyone find it odd that the images leaked to the press show the iPhone to be just an iPod mini blueprint with some other sketches around it? We could be wrong there too!) and the real next big thing is Apple Studio Displays or iMacs with built-in touch screen displays that allow users to control their Mac there?

Or what if it is the tablet Mac that Jason D. O'Grady first mentioned? The return of the "ultra-portable" Mac to the Nth degree, becoming the super ultra-compact portable.

See what happens when rumors start, and they get spread, and you start thinking about it and adding to the rumor mill yourself? It's just like the voyage of this ship and/or sub. Once it set sail, and the anchor was pulled up, there was no turning back.

So as you can see, it's really hard to analyze rumors and think too much about them. Those that are way out there somehow find a way to become the real thing when you discuss it to its core. Others are easy to backup with facts and sources, but again, how do you really know, unless you really have an insider's take on the matter.

And really, the only inside take on the matter comes from Cupertino themself, and only Steve Jobs (we hope he'll be there) will have the exact answers at Macworld 2007 next week.

Don't you just love rumors? None of these rumors are true right now, and that's a cold hard fact! But still, it's fun to guess what's coming from the world of Apple. Remember, like Apple said themselves on their website on New Year's Day, "The first 30 years were just the beginning..."

They also said, "Wishes Do Come True." And all we were wishing for in our premiere article for this website was a 2nd-gen MacBook with a 12" screen. Now it's going to be a step up to Pro grade, and become even more "ultra-compact" than the original notebook to hold that title... our beloved 12" PowerBook G4. Our favorite mini flagship of the fleet, soon to be recommissioned as a sub of Apple's MacBook Pro fleet.

Oh, right. We don't know if there will be a 12" MacBook Pro, or "MacBook Thin" or a tablet Mac.

("Aaarrggh!!")

Note: Once again, PBCentral.com will have the news for you, as it breaks--our intention and hope!--next Tuesday, January 9th, straight from Macworld in San Francisco, where rumors will become fact, and other rumors dismissed as just that. (Steve or no Steve). The Press Box intends to make priority one, the possible debut of a 12" MacBook Pro, should that rumor become fact next week, since PBCentral.com is, "Your Mac Notebook Resource" and whenever possible, news stories centered around Mac notebooks is the main focus of this site.
